I am currently pregnant with baby #4 and my third is still in diapers. The original Diaper Genie I received when I had my firstborn broke and I was on the hunt for a new diaper pail. I did some research and decided to give a different brand a try. My goodness was that a mistake! It was so flimsy! It also had no way to "pinch" the bag to help prevent odor from escaping into the room when you put in a dirty diaper, the pail itself was short, etc. After returning that horrible, other branded pail I was again on the hunt for a new one.I saw this newer Diaper Genie and was attracted to the stainless steel design. I also liked the idea of having pre-cut bags. With my OG Diaper Genie, there was always a random small amount of diaper bag that was leftover and wasted because of how the bag was cut. I was a little hesitant because of the price of the replacement bags; but, I decided to go for it anyway.This thing is amazing! I am so happy I went back to the superior brand, Diaper Genie, for a new diaper pail. If I ever need another I won't even look at other brands. They named their company Diaper Genie for a reason.I love that the bags are loaded at the bottom and you can just pull the bag out and immediately start fresh with a new one. Being 5'9'', I also prefer the height of this pail over others. I do not feel like I'm bending over as much to put the diaper in the pail. I've been using the Diaper Genie Platinum Pail, and it has been a fantastic upgrade from the plastic pail I used before. My wife and I have 2 stations for diaper changes with our son. One has a grocery bag hanging nearby, the other is this little gadget. It is very easy to change the bags, they are easy to set up, it really maximizes your utilization of plastic bags with it's own trash bag. This is proprietary, but it can still fit other trash bags, just not very well. The hands free, the odor neutralizer, and the foot controlled flap, all work in tandem really well. You could use an old grocery bag and swap them out, but you will be changing those bags much more frequently, the smell would not be controlled, and it would not 'hide" or be as aesthetically pleasing as this bin.

I love this product. I have the Diaper Genie in one room and the ubbi in another and the Diaper Genie does a much better job of masking scent and generally has a more sanitary feel.You will be disposing the poop of at least one member of your household into this thing for at least 2.5 years, so you may as well get the best if you can afford it.

This might be the worst $80 I’ve ever spent! It DOES NOT keep the odors from the diapers inside the bags or inside the genie. When removing the inner bag, the device continues to reek. We’ve tried replacing the bags daily (which is a complete waste since they’re less than half full). The only way we’ve been able to get rid of the smell from the genie itself is to drench it with Lysol spray & prop the lid open for several hours. Then, as soon as we put another diaper in, the smell immediately returns. Therefore, I highly recommend you save your money & refrain from purchasing this particular model.

We had the original diaper genie for our first born, and it did its job well. The top did detach and we had to MacGyver it though. When pregnant with our second, I looked at all the options and found this. Glad I did. It’s very sturdy and has the same functionality as the original diaper genie. The only downside so far is the options for refill bags are limited. Hopefully that will change over time.

Super easy to use. Not complicated to change out the bags. Does still have the smell when you open it. Better quality than the original plastic diaper genie.

If you have a kid in diapers, this is worth it, period. Save your nose, but the fancy trash can.
