Sony SEL057FEC 16mm f/3.5-22 Fisheye Converter Lens for Mirrorless Cameras , Black

Sony makes up for not having a wider range of lenses by providing an extension for the Sony SEL28F20 FE 28mm lens. I am using this on an Sony a6500. I love the SEL28F20 lens (size and aperture), giving the a6500 about 45 mm equivalent, and with the 16 mm extension about 26 mm wide angle quality. Now, you might ask why not use the 18-105 mm specifically for the a6500, which I also own and use? Personally, I think the overall image quality is better with the two lens combo than the single zoom. The fisheye wide angle quality is also seemingly more present than with the standard zoom, adding a bit more uniqueness to each capture without it being super distorted at the edges.The SEL28+SEL057 is a little shorter, but heavier -- the SEL057 is about 1.4 lbs on the end of the moderately diminutive SEL28 -- making for less balance on the smaller a6500 frame. I am used to this imbalance with other lenses.The biggest reason that I like a single focus lens is that it makes shooting more spontaneous for me -- there is no trying to find the "right distance" -- just shoot. One other reason to consider this extension is that if, like me, you may move up to a full frame Sony in the future, you are ready with full frame compatibility.My original motivation for purchasing this lens was that I put a fisheye extension on my iphone camera and shot pictures at a beer festival. I really liked the view with a center subject surrounded by a larger view of the crowd. The crowd provides context and seems to make the image more inclusive of "fun". Now, those same pictures were of variable quality due to the iphone and lens combination, so I am really looking forward to trying the same with my a6500 to see the differences.

I typically don't shoot a lot of ultra-wide images. Over the years I find my widest preference around the 24mm focal length. But with this very affordable option to attach to the 28mm lens, I decided to give it a try. Overall results are better than expected and it's great to expand my kit to this focal length just by attaching it a lens.

Great fisheye attachment! I take it with me whenever I walk around cities to get the most image on the sensor. Definitely worth getting. Photoshop easily corrects the distortion, if you feel the need to do so.

My only 1 con about the product is that it's heavy. Bought Sony A7 for it small and compact size, so that it will make my travelling experience a lot nicer, but now with this converter attached to my Sony FE 28mm it made it a lot heavier. Otherwise, good picture and build quality.

Had to buy another lens to adapt to my Sony a6000

Not that wide, and F-stop drops to 3.5 for the price you could get a manual wider Fisheye with a better F-stop

Just go for it, if you have 28mmF2 - an affordable fisheye solutions for all!

Adds a pretty good fisheye to the A7 line. Not as sharp as some other fisheyes but pretty nice FF fishey lens.
