Sony SRS-XB21 Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, Black (SRSXB21/B)

Great brand. Found on Amazon for reasonable price, definitely recommend! I wanted a sound bar for the TV. But they are expensive & too big for my entertainment console. You have to buy a double sided audio cable & then you plug one end into the headphone jack in the back of the TV. The other end goes to the audio input jack of the Bluetooth speaker. Then you simply plug in the USB charging cable to the USB slot in the back of the TV so it stays charged. Lastly, if you want to use it as a speaker for your phone, pair it to your phone first but then you have to unplug the audio cable from the back of the speaker so it changes gears to receive the Bluetooth signal from your phone. If you leave the audio cable plugged in, it gives preference to audio in. It cannot produce sound for your TV & phone at the same time.

This thing has sound that rivals small stereos and premium PC speakers. The sound is almost studio like and had a perfect balance of bass, mids and highs. I not only use it with my phone over Bluetooth but also the aux input for my PC when I’m gaming and don’t want to wear headphones. Also I have a ps4 that’s HDMI’d into a computer monitor with terrible speakers so again when I don’t want to use headphones I’ll plus this into the DualShock 4 headphone jack and the sound quality is still very very good. It’s a great replacement in my opinion for small speakers if you’re low on desk space and have multiple things you can use it for plus it’s portable so you can take it with you when you leave.

Even knowing JBL's are more popular among younger customers as it provides boomy sound for EDM, I wouldn't recommend them for anyone else who wants to hear more than just bass. The problem of JBL speakers is that they don't provide any way to reduce bass and hear more mids/highs. Sony does have this option via app - there are sound profiles and EQ in the app, so you can choose what you want to hear.Sound quality overall - compared to Flip (4?) and has more balanced profile, while Charge and Xtreme have too much bass. If you need more power, take XB41 - it's powerful, easily compared to Xtreme, but again, you can tune the sound.

I have considered myself an audiophile since I bought a stereo worth more than my car in the late 70’s . I had a JBL clip that I tried for a short time and was dissatisfied with the controls, it would come on intermittently and was actually obnoxious. I returned the JBl and bought the Sony and I am dramatically impressed!!! The bass response for the size and weight is incredible! I cycle a lot and this unit weighs almost two pounds but I calculate that my workout is enhanced because of the Sony Bluetooth speaker. I couldn’t be more satisfied and I would strongly recommend you try this before ANYTHING else.BlessingsScott Knight

I bought this speakers not for portability or bluetooth, but as a PC speaker. I have a limited desk space, and I need a speaker that is small enough with great sounds, and also can be powered through USB. This speaker fits all my requirements. I connect this directly to my PC using the 3.5mm jack. Sound is great, even better when you use the Dolby Atmos sound for Windows. The sound is also great when playing PC games, you can hear details from gunshots, footsteps, etc.

It's a good speaker especially when your peer another one just like it the only problem I don't like with it is that when the battery is low the volume goes down and you can turn it up you can even put it on charge and turn the volume up that's one week thing I don't like about it

I bought this speaker as a gift for a 24 year old female so I have not personally heard it or done anything with it. I can tell you that she uses the speaker daily in the bathroom while she showers and loves it. She says the volume works well and she hears it clearly over the shower noise easily. I note this because a friend has a lower priced wireless speaker that loses sound quality (clarity) with higher volumes.
