Welcome to Gumbling
When a dastardly duo of would-be developers threaten to commercialize the enchanted world she lives in, it's up to Nell and a few of her magical pals to save the day. A fun tale told through a mix of diary and graphic novel format that shows kids getting involved, putting aside differences, and working together for a common goal. A great read for the middle-school set. Thanks to NetGalley and Labyrinth Road for sharing.

A Must-Read!!!
This is a spectacularly fun, sweet, magical, and meaningful read. The characters and plot leap off the page with splendid detail, humor, and relatability; the drawings are beautiful and evocative; and the messaging of the story is compelling, powerful, and emotionally resonant. And the world building is so unique and stimulates the imagination in the way that all great YA books do.I'm a museum educator and can confidently say that the themes and ideas in this book (esp. with regards to community, friendship, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution, history, achievement, family, and even commercialization) are really stellar and foundational for middle schoolers/young adults. But adults will find it super enjoyable and emotional as well: it's like a Pixar film in that way. Definitely check it out!!! :)

You’ll love the world of Nell, her family and friends
Such a fun read. Brings the reader into the world of Gumbling with so much detail. I love the character’s names and personalities. Preteen friends navigating preteen issues but the place and touch of magic make it a journey you won’t forget . These characters have such a range of emotions that show up beautifully in the masterful illustrations. And there is so much extra information throughout the book about the characters, history of the town and the folklore that has made Gumbling such a unique place.

Delightful read
Thank you Random House Children's, Labyrinth Road, and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this book. Colorful, expressive art, interesting world building and characters, and great storyline combine into one delightful read. We learn important lessons along the way about being yourself and that it’s ok to sometimes do something you might not like. Great for upper elementary students.

perfect for graphic novel readers and chapter readers
I have read the Okay Witch Series by Emma which I thoroughly enjoyed. So you can imagine how ecstatic when a new blog tour for Nell of Gumbling I knew that I really wanted to read it,Nell was a great main character. There were so many good side characters and my favourite was Schmitty she was hilarious, I admit it did throw me when there were both text and what you would call the normal graphic novel setup but I get why Emma did this as the book would interest both kinds of readers and maybe an introduction into graphic novels. As usual Emma's illustrations were impeccable and I loved the stories at the end of the book these were pure genius.I am not going to say anything more about the book except to say that throughout there are so many messages which could be used for discussions. For all the above reasons Nell of Gumbling My Extremely Normal Fairy-tale life gets 4 stars. I would love a revisit to this world.
