From testing:Idling in the command line, the A+ uses 100 mA, which is 40 mA less than the A, half the current draw of the B+ and a bit over a quarter of the original model B (360 mA).-Idling, the A+ uses 71% of the power of the model A. (0.52W) -Under CPU load, the A+ uses 68% of the power of the model A. (0.68W)-Under GPU load, the A+ uses 70% of the power of the model A. (0.73W)-Under GPU + camera load, the A+ uses 72% of the power of the model A. (1.2W)Obviously these figures are subject to a small amount of experimental error, but I think we can safely say that the A+ uses about 70% of the power of a model A. i want to setup a media center with raspberry A+, but 256 MB ram will be enough to reproduce 720/1080p video H264 with no stuttering?

Yes it is. I have the original model B, the one one that was released with 256 of ram ( before they released the 512 MB version and the 1 GB) and it works fine. The model A+ is functionally the same. I use it to stream 1080p video without stuttering. The raspberry pi does hardware decoding and doesn't depend on the ram too much.You may want the model B,B+, or RPI2 just beacuse they feature more usb ports.

what size battery is needed to run the a+?

I've run one on a 4400 mah li-ion battery using a 3.7v to 5v dc-dc converter.  It ran for about 2 days on idle before it ran out of power.

Why is it priced at almost $33 when the official price is 20?

The A+ is pretty much outdated and majorly improved upon in the B+. You can get a CanaKit B+ for 40 USD including their a amp charger. It's ludicrous to ask $30 for an A+ board and then blame it on inflation, and shipping... You could fit 200 A+ boards in a box and ship it to the US from the UK and pay less than 50$ in shipping, making the shipping 25 cents a piece to the seller. This is simple price gouging IMO, and is pretty common among Amazon's independent sellers.There are places and reasons where the A+ can be better than the B+, but for most applications like Streaming Video, RetroPie, and pretty much anywhere where the physical size of the board is less important than processing power the B+ is the way to go anyway. I cant say enough good things about my CanaKit B+.
