Works perfect with LED strips.
I purchased an ex demo LED light from Laura Ashley so unsure if it was dimmable not with it being super bright I thought I’d try a dimmer switch. My light has 3 arms coming off it and strips of LED’s under the glass facits. The light switch works great although I did need to use the uTube demo on how to reduce the minimum power setting as it was a little bright at 1st.Some slight delay as others have said but I’m happily to live with the stepped and slight delay in dimmimg. Just happy it worked straight out the box.The finish to the edge of the silver / chrome doesn’t look prefect but again I’ve not looked twice at the edge of the switch housing since fitting as the front is nice and shiney so pleased and I’d certainly purchase another if needed.

Good: - More sophisticated design than many dimmers
Good:- More sophisticated design than many dimmers; works with the LEDs I've tried.- Softstart, so light ramps up in brightness when powered on. Less harsh on incandescents; I kind of like it. Some people may not.- Hard off. When powered off the electricity appears to be cut, so it shouldn't waste any power when off. A lot of high-tech switches are constantly draining electricity when "off" since they're never truly off - just standby mode.Bad:- The plate is subtly different from the one pictured, which is why I'm not giving the product 5 stars. The one pictured has 45 degree chamfered edges. The one shipped is slightly and subtly rounded.- More annoyingly, it appears the plating was applied before the metal was pressed, not after. This means that it's less shiny on the edges and corners than on the flat. Not a huge issue, but I have another plate from another maker that's uniformly shiny across the whole outer surface. See the attached photo - the upper plate is this Varilight one; the lower plate is the unknown maker's. I don't think Varilight's plate is good enough to warrant a premium price.- As it's a bare metal plate it should technically never be used in a house without earth wires going to the switches. Most older houses don't have this. Interior insulation on the plate would have been a nice plus.- Can't somebody make a decent dimmer switch that doesn't have energy-sucking fancy illuminated pushbuttons, but which doesn't make a loud click noise that's of the perfect frequency to transmit through masonry walls? Even to the next house in the terrace, if installed in an outer wall.

Excellent - Solved My Flickering
Excellent product. Installed a light fitting with a cluster of LED Edison style bulbs which were flickering and randomly dimming. Replaced the dimmer with this and all problems fixed, no more flicker or random dimming and the transition from dim to bright is now a lot smoother with no stepping between brightness levels. I've noticed the max brightness level has increased and I also like the way the lights now subtly ramp up brightness smoothly when you first switch them on if the dimmer is already turned to position. Really happy with end result. The chrome casing is well finished but could be made slightly thicker to make the construction more solid, but once its screwed in, this isn't perceptible and it feels perfectly adequate, and for the price its an excellent bit of kit. Would certainly recommend for anyone facing similar flicker issues with LEDs.

Great product. I changed a light fixing from 3x dimmable halogen GU10s to 3x dimmable LED GU10s but after the swap there was an audible buzz coming from both the bulbs and dimmer switch. After quite a bit of research i tried out the Varilight dimmer switch as it seemed do wonders with LEDs and i was not dissapointed. The buzz disappeared completely from both the bulbs and dimmer and ended up buying a 2nd after the successful trial! Would definitely recommend if you have swapped to LED bulbs from halogens and they are giving you a buzz.

Excellent FIVE STARS
I can't often be bothered to write reviews but i got a bit of a guilty conscience over this one!! I trusted somebody else's review to buy this and thought I should do the same for someone else.I used this to dim 5 two watt led bulbs in a newly fitted ceiling fitment. It is on a two way circuit set up the other switch is a simple on/off and this dimmer, the lights on full brightness are great - really bright (a word of caution though, cheap led bulbs were awful brightness, but that was down to the bulbs not the dimmer) as someone else mentioned, there is a slight time delay on the dimmer control, however once you get used to that the fine control is superb with absolutely no noise and no flicker. If you are looking for a quality dimmer - you just found it!!!

To clever for its own good
I'm in two minds about this dimmer. It certainly works with some dimmable LED bulbs, but I had a strange experience with this switch. At first this switch worked OK with two out of three brands of dimmable LED bulbs. That's a lot better than zero out of free with my existing dimmer switches. It automatically detects the bulb type and adjusts itself accordingly. You can manually override these settings which I had to do as when the brightness was turned down to lower than about 30% the lights started to flicker. So I manually set the minimum value. That's pretty good. However, the first thing you notice when you use this switch, is that when you turn the light on there's a pause of about a second or so before the light dims up to the brightness you set. That's just annoying. When you have LED lights, one of the great things about them over the CFLs they typically replace is that they turn on instantly. This is more than negated by the delay this switch has.The second negative is that it doesn't turn the LED lights up all the way. All three brands I tried are significantly brighter when connected via a normal light switch than when connected via this switch.
