Perfect lock box for dorms!
My son is using it for residence to store his laptop and other valuables. It’s not completely protective but enough to prevent quick swipes.

For what it’s meant for, it’s really nice
First, this isn’t a safe. It’s just a box with combo locks, meant to deter snoopy people. It won’t do anything against a determined entrant, and the label reminds you of that, before you go and use it to hold your gold bricks. This one’s marketed as fitting under the bed, comes with a cable that normally costs extra so you can secure it to a fixed object, and is aimed at college students to deter nosy roomies. Wish I had this when I was in college...I already have one in a different configuration, oriented for files; the combination locks were easy to set and work just fine, so I wanted another for larger, horizontally oriented items. This one stacks easily with other stuff, and if positioned with locks facing inward, just looks like an instrument case or something. It was easy to set the locks on this one, too; they worked perfectly right away. I’m not in and out of this box daily, so I can’t say how well they’ll hold up, but I’ve accessed my other one at least thirty times without a problem so far.I like the tactical black color scheme; it really is subtle, doesn’t draw attention to the box. Haven’t used the cable. I didn’t love that it only has one hinge inside, but they put a notch for the cable on the other side instead of a hinge. We’ll see if that was a good idea in the long run or not; I’m hoping I don’t have to get into this thing all the time, in that case. I’d rather have had the two hinges for increased stability.Still, the hinge that’s there is sturdy enough, holds the lid open by itself when fully extended. It’s a bit stiff, doesn’t want to fold back easily, but that’s intentional so it will keep the lid up when you want it to.Lots of capacity. I can fit everything I need to in here.I like this for an emergency box—not fireproof or anything, but something you grab when you have to leave, where you keep spare meds, important docs, etc. It’s not going to survive if you don’t get to take it with you, but it would come in handy if you had to evacuate, would give you a modicum of privacy for your stuff in a shelter or motel. I’m torn between this and a vertically oriented one for that use, though—this one needs both hands for you to carry it properly, esp if it’s not empty, while vertical design is a one-hand grab. The other reason I like it is when having work done in house, or home showings; it gives me an easy place to stash bills and receipts and things I don’t want to fall into the wrong hands, safely away from prying eyes. It can fit a laptop easily, even a big one, and still has room for more; could probably stack 3 average laptops in one of these if you had to.A useful device. I don’t like keyed ones, as a person who loses keys but can remember a number code; if you’re better with keys, they make those kinds, too.

fragile not strong. locks below standard.
One lock opens other doesn't. So can't open box. Plus it looks like solid box. Plastic or very thin aluminium. Not at all secure. Can be cut into easily or a hard punch woukd break it.
