IGNIS Portable Ventless Bio Ethanol Tabletop Fireplace - Cube

First, some comments on the packaging and assembly. The cube's stainless steel base was packaged securely in a solid plastic material and came with a user's manual. The four glass sides were stacked on top of the cube, separated by solid sheets of the same plastic material to ensure that they would not break or scratch in transit. The arm for the damper cover was on top of the glass packaging, and the entire set of materials was covered by a top of the solid plastic material. Needless to say, the product arrived undamaged.Assembly was simple. The glass sides slipped easily into the slots on the top of the cube, and the damper arm was easily attached to the damper (a Phillips head screwdriver or pair of pliers is required). The assembled cube is quite lightweight and you can move it around the room easily. The burner is a steel cylinder that has a 4 inch diameter and a 4 inch depth, sitting in the center of the cube's base. It is removable for easy filling.There is one inconsistency between the operating instructions and the safety instructions. The operating instructions direct the user to fill the burner until the fuel reaches the top of the metal mesh. On the other hand, the safety instructions caution the user to fill the burner no more than 3/4 full. The problem is that there is no way to tell when the burner is 3/4 full because the burner is a small steel cylinder filled with a white cloth-like material that can be seen through the mesh cover of the burner. The practical result is that you will not know how full the burner cylinder is until the fuel reaches the top of the metal mesh. Therefore, pour slowly!Second, a comment on how well the cube operated. Because the fuel is a form of gas, it emits vapors. Therefore, it is important to follow the safety instructions and light the burner with a taper or long match because the vapors above the open burner will light when exposed to a flame. As stated in the user manual, the flame burns low at first with a blue flame, but eventually flared to just above the top of the glass sides with a bright yellow flame, dancing nicely around 4 inch burner. It did not emit much heat in the room, but the small flame was aesthetically pleasing and odorless. I did not see any build-up of carbon on the glass sides of the cube, as noted with some other products, probably because the glass sides are not that close to the burner.I gave this product five stars because it was packaged well, easy to assemble, easy to operate and reasonably priced. While I was somewhat apprehensive about having an open flame in the room, the user manual is detailed about how to operate the cube safely and the type of fuel to use (and avoid). The fuel is readily available from Ignis through Amazon, though not for Prime delivery.

This fireplace cube is absolutely perfect! It made my Christmas Eve so cozy without the stress of smoke, soot or harm to my curious pets (why I bought the 4 sided style). I filled it to the brim and it lasted for about 3 hours before needing to be refilled which is about the average time a log burns, so plenty of warmth and zoning out to the dancing flames. It's small and light enough (even with the glass panels) to move room to room. I originally had it set up in my living room but now I am hoarding it in my bedroom. I am enjoying it right now as I write this and am thinking of buying another. Also, I have been wanting one of these smokeless portable fireplaces for years. Ignis so far offers the best price for the style and size and obviously I am impressed with this product. Highly recommended.

Exactly as pictured. If you are looking for a modern, minimalist table-top fire-feature to sit around on the deck, this is the perfect solution. We eventually bought three which we have lined up along our patio as a 'wall of flames'. As others have noted it is difficult to see when the canister is full so some indication from the manufacturer as to capacity would help when refilling.

Beautiful to look at, looks great on my lanai. Doesn't burn quite the two hours as promised.

Better than pictured, lightening fast delivery, indestructible packaging lol. This thing is beautiful when lit and stylish enough to leave out when not. I thought at $99 it would be a hunk of junk....not even close.

I like that the flame is protected on four sides and unit is very sturdy. I love it!

Received the cube as a gift and I couldn't be happier! Our apartment doesn't have a fireplace and candles just aren't enough for ambiance. It's the perfect size for our coffee table and simply a beautiful piece of decoration, and is certainly a conversation and trend starter. It comes very well packaged and is very sturdy. An overall great product!
